The most goals scored in an Africa Cup of Nations tournament is nine and was achieved by Ndaye Mulamba (Congo DR) playing for Zaire in the 1974 Africa Cup of Nations, in Egypt, from 3 - 14 March 1974. Zaire scored 14 goals in total on their way to winning their second and last championship. They defeated Zambia 2-0 in the final replay after the teams had originally draw 2-2 after extra time. Ndaye Mulamba also made two appearances at the 1974 World Cup in West Germany, Zaire didn't manage a goal and Ndaye was sent off in their 9-0 defeat to Yugoslavia.
