According to a May 2008 poll by the Davie-Brown Index (DBI), Pac-Man is the best-known of all videogame characters, recognized by 94% of American consumers. Mario comes a close second with 93%, while other notable characters who make it into the index include Lara Croft, Donkey Kong, Sonic the Hedgehog and Link from The Legend of Zelda.
