Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training was the first puzzle game to win a prestigious BAFTA award. The Nintendo DS brain-booster won the Innovation category at the 2006 British Academy Video Games Awards event, beating off competition from LocoRoco (Sony, 2006) and We Love Katamari (Namco/EA, 2005). Since then, two more puzzle games have been honoured, at the 2008 event – Boom Blox (EA, 2008) won in the Casual category, while Professor Layton and the Curious Village (Level-5, 2007) took home the Handheld award.
