Even the mighty Call of Duty series can only dream of making as much money as World of Warcraft. In the first quarter of 2013, Blizzard Entertainment saw World of Warcraft net revenues of $1.324 billion – 12.96 per cent higher than the same period in 2012. Since World of Warcraft was released on 24 November 2004, Blizzard Entertainment has raked in more than US$10 billion in total profit ─ at least eight times more than Call of Duty: Black Ops and its estimated 25 million copies sold. The latest expansion, Mists of Pandaria, sold 2.7 million copies in its first week of release alone.
