Final Fantasy XI was the first interconsole and PC-based MMORPG, allowing gamers across multiple platforms – Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and PC – to play together. It was first released in Japan on PS2 on 16 May 2002, before hitting PCs in November 2002. An Xbox 360 version was released worldwide in April 2006, becoming the Microsoft system’s first ever MMORPG.
