The most goals scored in a Premier League match by an individual player is five and was achieved on five separate occasions. The first was by Andy Cole (UK) for Manchester United versus Ipswich at Old Trafford in Manchester, UK, on 4 March 1995. The second was by Alan Shearer (UK) for Newcastle United versus Sheffield Wednesday at St. James' Park in Newcastle, UK, on 19 September 1999. The third was by Jermain Defoe (UK) for Tottenham Hotspur versus Wigan Athletic at White Hart Lane in London, UK, on 22 November 2009. Just over a year later the fourth was by Dimitar Berbatov (Bulgaria) for Manchester United over Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford in Manchester, UK, on 27 November 2010. The fifth and most recent was by Sergio Agüero (Argentina) for Manchester City against Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, UK, on 3 October 2015.
