Willie joined Kirkintilloch Golf Club at the age of 12 and has been a keen golfer ever since. During the 1930's he even worked making golf clubs. He played competitively in the past, representing Kirkintilloch Golf Club, before taking a more leisurely approach. He occasionally plays in club competitions.
Willie continues as member, aged 102. Although he can no longer attempt full rounds of golf he still enjoys hitting balls on the practice range, or playing a few holes.
