Last original Olympics

In AD 393, the original Olympic Games - first held c. 776 BC - were staged for the final time. The Christian Emperor Theodosius I disapproved of the Games' Ancient Greek pagan origins and had them banned in AD 394 for being anti-Christian. Olympia, the original site of the Games on the Greek Peloponnese peninsula, is where the modern Olympic flame is kindled to light the torch for today's Games.
