Russia won the match 52-19, with Rachkov contributing 27 points, adding three conversions and a penalty to his record-breaking number of drop goals. Rachkov broke the previous record of five set by Jannie de Beer (South Africa) playing for South Africa against England in the 1999 IRB World Cup Quarter Finals at Stade de France, Paris, France, on 24 October 1999. This remains the record for 'Most drop goals scored in a Rugby Union World Cup match'.
