Highest energy gamma-rays
- Who
- NASA's Fermi Gamma-Ray Space telescope
- When
- 11 June 2008
Launched on 11 June 2008, NASA's Fermi Gamma-Ray Space telescope can detect gamma-rays from violent events in the Universe at energies from 8,000 electron volts to greater than 300 billion electron volts, the highest energy wavelengths yet studied. A map of the whole sky at gamma-ray energies of more than 150 million times greater than visible light was released in March 2009, representing three months of Fermi data.
