Highest altitude computer virus
- Who
- International Space Station
- When
- August 2008
In August 2008 NASA revealed that laptops on board the International Space Station had been infected with a virus – and not for the first time. The non-critical laptops were for email and minor experiments only, and were not integral to the control of the space station. NASA would not reveal which virus it was but, according to SpaceRef.com it was the W32.Gammima.AG worm, which installs malware intended to steal online game login information. The ISS orbits the Earth at an altitude of around 350 km.
