Inaugurated in 1883, the Home Nations Championship (1883-1909 and 1932-39) was the world's first international rugby union tournament. It was succeeded by the Five Nations Championship (1910-31 and 1947-99) and the Six Nations Championship (2000-present). England and Wales have both won the tournament outright on 26 occasions, with England claiming a further 10 shared titles and Wales 12. England's most recent triumph came in 2011, while Wales have won the two most recent championships, in 2012 and 2013. England won the Home Nations outright in 1883-84, 1892, 1934 and 1937, the Five Nations outright in 1910, 1913-14, 1921, 1923-24, 1928, 1930, 1953, 1957-58, 1963, 1980, 1991-92 and 1995-96, and the Six Nations outright in 2000-01, 2003 and 2011. England won their 10 shared titles in 1886, 1890, 1912, 1920, 1932, 1939, 1947, 1954, 1960 and 1973.

Wales won the Home Nations outright 1893, 1900, 1902, 1905, 1908-09 and 1936, the Five Nations outright in 1911, 1922, 1931, 1950, 1952, 1956, 1965-66, 1969, 1971, 1975-76, 1978-79 and 1994, and the Six Nations outright in 2005, 2008, 2012-13. Wales won their 12 shared titles in 1888, 1906, 1920, 1932, 1939, 1947, 1954-55, 1964, 1970, 1973 and 1988.
