Highest capacity chicken manure power station

In September 2008 a biomass power plant in Moerdijk, Netherlands, was opened which converts chicken manure into electricity. With a generating capacity of 36.5 megawatts, the plant is carbon neutral, as the burning of the manure releases less greenhouse gases than spreading it on fields. The plant consumes around 440,000 tonnes of chicken manure each year – around a third of the annual production in the Netherlands.
