The world’s largest island made entirely from plastic bottles has been created just off Mexico by British expatriate Richard Sowa. Currently composed of over 100,000 empty discarded plastic bottles held together in fish nets, it presently measures 16 by 14 yards, and is growing ever larger in spiralling loops as Sowa canoes daily back and forth each day between this artificial island and the Mexican mainland, bringing more bottles to add to it. It even possesses a sand beach, a cabana, and a compost toilet.
