The Cup has been won once by five different teams, by Clare in 2004, Tipperary in 2005, Louth in 2006, Wicklow in 2007, and Antrim in 2008.

The Tommy Murphy Cup has been held annual since 2004 and involves teams that have been eliminated in the early stages of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championships.
