The most conversions in a rugby union international career is 293, achieved by Dan Carter (New Zealand) from 21 June 2003 to 31 October 2015. This is over 100 more than the next highest total of 176, by Ireland’s Ronan O’Gara. Carter kicked six conversions on his debut against Wales, and shortly after recorded a career-best nine conversions during a 68–6 rout of Canada at the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Carter’s final conversion, against Australia in the closing moments of the final of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, was notable for the fact that he chose to kick it with his right foot rather than his preferred left – the only one of his 293 successful conversions.
