The most wins of the Wife Carrying World Championships by a woman is six, by Kristiina Haapanen (Finland), who won each time with her "husband" Taisto Miettinen in 2009–13 and 2017.
As per official Wife Carrying rules, the couples do not need to be married, and Kristiina and Taisto are not married. The length of the official track is 253.5 m (831 ft 6 in) and surface of the track is sand. The track has two dry obstacles and one water obstacle, about 1 m (3 ft) deep.
According to the rules, "The wife to be carried may be your own, the neighbour’s or you may have found her farther ahead; she must, however, be over 17 years of age. The minimum weight of the wife to be carried is 49 kg [108 lb]. If she weighs less, she will be burdened with such a heavy rucksack to reach the desired minimum weight."
