As of 05 March 2020, the most prolific fighting videogame series (including ports) is the Street Fighter series, with a total of 177 different games since the original's release in 1987.

This isn't including the many popular crossover fighting games that often feature Street Fighter characters as part of their roster - nor does it include the Puzzle Fighter series, where chibified versions of the Street Fighter cast battle in a block falling puzzle game. If all Street Fighter games and crossover games are included, this total comes out to 236.
