Leptotyphlops carlae, a species of threadsnake measuring 10 cm (4in) long was discovered and identified in Barbados by Dr. Blair Hedges (USA). The coiled snake is the size of a US quarter coin. The holotype (type specimen) of this new species weighed 0.6 g.
The snake is as thin as a strand of spaghetti.
