Tom Clancy-branded games have sold more than 55 million units for publisher Ubisoft since 1998, making the novelist the most successful living author to be so closely associated with the gaming industry. Such is the draw of the Tom Clancy (USA) name that Ubisoft paid an undisclosed amount to use his name exclusively, without having to pay future royalties to the author.
