X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse, released for the PC in 1997, was the first officially licensed superhero entry in the first-person shooter genre. Published by Marvel Interactive, the game was a conversion of Quake and required that game to run. The player took the role of a cyborg, created by Magneto, hunting down evil cloned versions of the X-Men characters.
