The longest-running esports tournament is the Quake deathmatch event at QuakeCon, which has been held annually for 26 years as of the most recent event on 18 August 2022. The tournament has been held under the auspices of various different esports organizations over the years, but is currently part of the Quake Pro League.
The event's tournament has traditionally been held as a large-scale LAN party, with hundreds (sometimes thousands of players) adding their custom-PCs to the on-site Local Area Network. Between 2020 and 2022, the event was held online due to COVID-19 restrictions.
