The Resident Evil film franchise, loosely based upon the Capcom videogame series of the same name, is the most successful live-action game-to-film transfer, with its five films having grossed US$915.9 million (£596.8 million) worldwide to April 2013. The five films are: Resident Evil (2002), Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010), Resident Evil: Retribution (2012).
