The most drop goals kicked in an international rugby union career is 36 from 97 matches by Jonny Wilkinson (England) playing for England and the British and Irish Lions from 1998 and 2011. Wilkinson's first drop goal was in the 27-22 win over South Africa in Bloemfontein, South Africa on 24 June 2000. Wilkinson's last drop goal was in his pen-ultimate match for England - the 16-12 World Cup match win against Scotland in Auckland, New Zealand, on 1 October 2011. His most famous drop goal was in the 2003 World Cup final against Australia in Sydney, Australia on 22 November. This last-gasp drop goal won the cup for England, taking the score from 17-17 to 20-17 to England.
