With each of its 10 servers able to hold 2,500 players at the same time, Ultima Online is the largest massively multiplayer networked role-playing game in the world. At present, up to 14,000 players take part each day, many of them staying on-line for up to four hours at a time. With 32,000 interacting “inhabitants”, 15 major cities, nine sites of religious significance and at least seven dungeons, Britannia –the setting for Ultima Online –is the largest parallel universe on the internet. The game sold100,000 copies in its first three months on the market.
