The first extreme sports video game experience was 720° which was released in 1986 to the arcade and then the following year at home on the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64. A skateboard simulation, it, like modern extreme releases, required the player to prove their worth on the streets before advancing to skating tournaments at local parks. Successful players would also be able to upgrade their skating equipment with money won from these tournaments.
