The longest running flight simulation franchise is the Flight Simulator series which began life on the Apple II, courtesy of subLOGIC back in 1980. Microsoft published the PC version in 1982. With the announcement of Microsoft Flight in August 2010, the series looks set to continue well into the next decade.
The Flight Simulator series also holds the record for the most succesful flight simulator having sold over 20 million units since its launch in 1982.

Game: Flight Simulator Publisher: Microsoft The first version of Microsoft Flight Simulator debuted on the IBM PC in November 1982, which makes it one year older than Microsoft Word and three years older than Microsoft Windows. There have been 11 updates since that original version, the most recent being Flight Simulator X , which was released in October 2006.
