The best-selling First Person Shooter series is Call of Duty, published by Activision-Blizzard (USA). On 21 April 2021, Activision-Blizzard announced that the Call of Duty franchise had sold more than 400 million copies since the release of the original Call of Duty, which was released on 29 October 2003.

There have been 18 main-series Call of Duty games (19 if the 2016 remastered edition of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is included), plus another 15 console adaptations and mobile/handheld spin-offs. The most critically-acclaimed is 2007's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which has a rating of 94 out of 100 on review aggregatory Metacritic. It's not clear which individual title was the most successful, as Acitivision-Blizzard do not release information on individual titles, but in a 2020 press conference, the CEO of Nvidia mentioned that the most recent edition of Call of Duty (then the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot) had sold more than 30 million copies.
