Largest spiral galaxy

Discovered in 1986, Malin 1 is a spiral galaxy some 1.1 billion light years away. In terms of its diameter it is the largest known spiral galaxy in the Universe, measuring around 650,000 light years across – several times the size of our Milky Way.
