The most wins of the World Marathon Majors series by a male athlete is four, achieved consecutively by Eliud Kipchoge (Kenya) in 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19.
Inaugurated in 2006, the World Marathon Majors is a year-long competition that encompasses the annual marathon races in Boston, Tokyo (added in 2013), Berlin, Chicago, London and New York City. The World Championships and Olympic marathons are also included in the years that they are staged. Competing athletes score points for top five finishes.
