The fastest anti-tank missile is Lockheed Martin''s LOSAT (Line of Sight Anti-Tank) missile, which can achieve speeds of over 154 m (500 ft) per second. With a range of 8 km (5 miles), it does not require explosives, but rather it relies on the power of its kinetic energy to drive a penetrator rod into the enemy tank. Its guided missile test flight occurred at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, USA, in June 2003.
