The British singer-songwriter won in every category for which she was nominated: Album of the Year (21), Record of the Year (“Rolling in the Deep”), Song of the Year (“Rolling in the Deep”), Best Pop Solo Performance (“Someone Like You”), Best Pop Vocal Album (21) and Best Short Form Music Video (“Rolling in the Deep”).
In 2008, the late Amy Winehouse won five Grammys, the best return for a solo British female before Adele’s success in 2012.
Paul Epworth, who produced “Rolling in the Deep” and “I’ll be Waiting” from Adele’s album 21, also won a 2012 Grammy (Producer of the Year, Non-Classical) but this is not included in Adele’s six wins.
The Grammys marked Adele’s first live performance since undergoing throat surgery in November 2011.
The 54th Grammy Awards ceremony was the second highest-rated in history, attracting 39.9 million viewers. In 1984, the show was watched by 43.8 million people.
