Brothers Robert and Richard Sherman (both USA) have been writing music together since their childhood in a career spanning more than 65 years. The dynamic pair have written the music for some of the best-loved children’s classics including The Jungle Book, The AristoCats, Winnie the Pooh and The Parent Trap. As of January 2008, they have written the screenplays for eight movies, written the score for 26 movies, 12 theme park rides and 7 stage plays including 12 international re-workings of Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Awards and gongs include nine Academy Award (Oscar) nominations, winning two Oscars; five Golden Globe nominations and three Grammy nominations - winning one for the score of Mary Poppins. They have also composed music for theme park rides and remain the only Americans to win First Prize at the Moscow Film Festival. They scooped the gong for Tom Sawyer for which they also wrote the screenplay.
