The male ornate jumping spider (Cosmophasis umbratica) uses ultraviolet fluorescence to attract a mate. Scales on the body and face reflect UV light, which sensory organs called palps, situated just below the female's eye react to by fluorescing bright green when stimulated, making the female the world's most bioluminescent spider. Biologists in Singapore and the UK have concluded that attraction between these spiders would not be possible without this sexual lightshow.
