Australia (399 for 8) trounced the Netherlands (90 all out) by 309 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India, on 25 October 2023, comfortably eclipsing their own 275-run defeat of Afghanistan at the WACA in Perth, Australia, on 4 March 2015. Australia’s mammoth total against an out-of-sorts Dutch team featured David Warner’s 104 and Glenn Maxwell’s 106 – the latter the fastest hundred in a Cricket World Cup match (male) after the destructive middle-order batter raced to three figures off just 40 balls.
The only Cricket World Cup match to feature a higher margin of victory was on 16 December 1997, when Australia’s women (412 for 3) crushed Denmark’s women (49 all out) by 363 runs in Mumbai, India. Australia’s huge total, featuring captain/opener Belinda Clark’s 229 not out, remains the highest team score at the Women’s Cricket World Cup, some 26 years and six completed tournaments (2000–22) later.
