Monty Python fans have been visiting Doune Castle, Scotland, UK, since the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail (UK 1975) was partially filmed there in 1974. In 2004, Historic Scotland staged Doune's first ever Monty Python Day, an event that attracted 1,500 fans from all over the UK, and overseas. The event has since been repeated in September each year, though later events had to limit the number of fans attending.
