The Jiaozi/Yang Yu-directed sequel surpassed the previous record of 4.74 bn yuan ($742.5 m; £524.5 m), which was set by the franchise’s first instalment, Ne Zha Zhi Mo Tong Jiang Shi (China, 2019).
Ne Zha 2 is also the highest-grossing animated movie overall at the global box office.
