Largest gathering of furries

Furry fandom is a fanclub genre for a subculture that enjoys dressing as animals. 'Furries', as they are known, meet up at confurences and share their love of animal anthropomorphism ­ that is, animals depicted with human characteristics, such as the rabbits in Watership Down. The largest annual gathering of furries occurs at Anthrocon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, and between 15-18 June 2006 a record 2,489 furries attended. Among the trivial 'fursuits' on offer were a furries parade, various guests of honour and a charity auction.
