The most assists in a Major League Soccer career is 136, achieved by Landon Donovan (USA) playing for the San Jose Earthquakes and the LA Galaxy between 2001 and 2016.
Donovan surpassed Steve Ralston’s record of 135 assists during the LA Galaxy’s 3–0 win over Toronto FC on 4 October 2014. Donovan retired at the end of the 2014 season, although he returned to the Galaxy in 2016 and played a further six regular-season games.
MLS counts secondary assists, in which the second-to-last player to touch the ball is also credited with an assist.
