The most Union Cycliste Internationale Time Trial World Championships won by an individual rider is four and was first achieved by Fabian Cancellara (Switzerland) in 2006–07 and 2009–10. It was equalled by Tony Martin (Germany) in 2011–13 and 2016.
Martin won his fourth and most recent title in Doha, Qatar finishing the 40-kilometre course in just 44 minutes 42.99 seconds.
Martin is only the second person to have won the Time Trial three times consecutively – the other rider being Australian Michael Rogers, who achieved the feat first in 2003–05.
Martin and Cancellara are also tied on seven medals in this event.
