The largest standing set ever built was created for Rome, an epic historical drama produced by HBO (USA) and the BBC (UK), which boasts a set comprising 2 ha (5 acres) of backlot and six soundstages at Cinecittà Studios in Rome, Italy. The Forum set is 60% of the size of the original, and the olive trees in the Sacred Grove are over 200 years old. The set's construction began in November 2003 and was completed in March 2004.
Episode 12 of the first season was filmed in April 2005.
