The longest running pumpkin boat race is the Pumpkin Regatta and Parade, held annually since 1999 in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada. After each competitor demonstates their PVC (Personal Vegetable Craft) during the Parade of Paddlers, they then race 800 m (0.5 miles) across Lake Pesaquid in hollowed-out giant pumpkins in either the motorized or paddler class - the fastest times recorded for which are: 3.45 min and 9.02 min respectively.
The 7th annual race (2006) had 36 entries for the paddling division, the winner of the paddling division was Leo Swinimer Sr. who has won the class for the last four years.
