The United States Treasury confirmed in May 2003 that the second son of former Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, stole $1 billion (then £572 million) from the country’s Central Bank in March of that year, just prior to the US-led invasion of Iraq. On orders of his father, Qusay Saddam Hussein and accomplice, Abid al-Hamid Mahmood (both Iraq), ordered employees to load up three tractor-trailers with the cash, which included $900 million’s worth in $100 bills! It is still not known precisely where this money went.
