The most wins of the football (soccer) European Cup/UEFA Champions League by a player is 6, achieved by Francisco Gento López (Spain) for Real Madrid in 1956–60 and 1966; and equalled by Dani Carvajal (Spain) and Luka Modrić (Croatia) for Real Madrid in 2014, 2016–18, 2022 and 2024.
Carvajal and Modrić matched Gento’s tally of six European Cups/Champions Leagues with Madrid’s 2–0 final win over Borussia Dortmund on 1 June 2024. Two of their teammates – Toni Kroos and Nacho – had also been part of six of Madrid’s successful campaigns, without playing in all six finals.
Gento – a flying winger nicknamed La Galerna del Cantábrico – “the Gale of the Cantabrian Sea” – played in a total of eight European Cup finals (a record shared with AC Milan’s Paolo Maldini), finishing on the losing side in 1962 and 1964.
