Woods equalled Sam Snead’s long-standing record of 82 PGA Tour wins with victory at the Zozo Championship on 28 October 2019 at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan. His first victory occurred at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational.
Sam Snead’s first officially recognised PGA Tour victory occurred at the one-day, 36-hole 1936 West Virginia Closed Pro, while his last was the 1965 Greater Greensboro Open. His official tally was put at 84 before being reduced to 81 by the PGA TOUR in 1987, who later settled on 82 when it recognised his triumph at the 1946 The Open Championship. Seven of Snead’s 82 wins were achieved at major championships, compared to 15 by Woods.
