Most wins of the PGA Player of the Year award

The most PGA Player of the Year awards won by an individual golfer is 11, by Tiger Woods (USA) in 1997, 1999–2003, 2005–07, 2009 and 2013. Awarded since 1948 this award is based on a points system, incorporating variables such as wins, top 10 finishes, performances in major tournaments, and scoring average. Tiger Woods has almost twice as many awards as his nearest rival, Tom Watson, who won the award on six occasions. In 2013 Woods won five PGA Tour events, finished as the No. 1 money leader, and won the Vardon Trophy by posting the lowest adjusted season scoring average (68.98).
