The most fastest laps by one driver in a Formula One career is 77 by Michael Schumacher (Germany) between 30 August 1992 and 22 July 2012.

Michael Schumacher set his first fastest lap at the 1992 Belgian Grand Prix, almost exactly a year after his Formula 1 debut (as a last-minute substitute) at the same circuit. He went on to win the race, beating the season's already-crowned champion Nigel Mansell. He lapped the famously challenging Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps at an average speed of 220.636 km/h (137.096 mph).
