Roger Penske (USA) is the team-owner of 13 Indianapolis 500 winners, entering the 2006 season. The most recent triumph was on 25 May 2003, when Gil de Ferran (Brazil) won the 87th Indy 500-mile race by 0.2990 of a second – the third-closest finish in 500 history – over Team Penske teammate Helio Castroneves (Brazil). With Tony Kanaan (Brazil) finishing third only 1.2475 seconds behind, it was the closest 1-2-3 finish in the race’s history.
