The record was equalled by Georgos "Spilly" Spiliadis (USA), who also achieved 64 rotations, on the set of 'Lo Show dei Record' in Rome, Italy, on 12 March 2012.
Spilly went head-to-head with another American hula hoop champion, Paul "Dizzy Hips" Blair. Paul was unsuccessful in his attempt, but Spilly managed to equal the current record, with a total of 64 spins.
