In the Round of 16, Spain drew 0-0 against Morocco in the Round of 16 before losing on penalties. At the 2026 tournament, Simón didn’t concede a goal in Spain’s first five matches (against Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, Austria and Portugal) before Belgium’s Charles De Ketelaere struck in the 41st minute of their quarter-final tie. Simón beat the previous record of 518 minutes, by Italy’s Walter Zenga in 1990.
